As a seven-seat MPV, the Kia Carens is a family vehicle that is perfectly suited to the requirements of daily travel. Combining a spacious interior with high levels of comfort and flexibility, Kia has given the Carens one of the highest luggage space capacities in the vehicle class.
Kia has engineered the Carens to give a sporty visual impression, with a body that has been made both shorter and narrower, but with an increased wheelbase allowing for greater interior size. Motorists can choose between body-coloured exterior door handles as standard, or chrome door handles and chrome window surrounds on higher trim levels. To mark it as part of the Kia vehicle family, the Carens features the 'tiger nose' chrome front grille, as well as unique wide headlights that provide extensive road illumination.
Inside the Carens, motorists can enjoy luxurious features such as the leather-trimmed gear shift and steering wheel. Air conditioning is included as a standard feature, as is the six-speaker audio system with CD player and USB/AUX ports for additional device compatibility. Bluetooth® functions are also included, such as audio streaming and a voice recognition system. Storage flexibility comes from the folding and lowering of the seats, which can give up to 1,650 litres of storage capacity.
There are three engines available for the Carens, giving either 1.6-litre or 1.7-litre capacity as well as six-speed manual or automatic transmission. These allow Carens to reach 0-60mph in 12.6 seconds, as well as giving a top vehicle speed of up to 119mph. Combined fuel consumption is 60.1mpg, and CO2 emissions are 124g/km.
Six airbags are included as standard, protecting the vehicle occupants from all angles during each journey. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is included as a safety assist system, giving full control of the vehicle during untoward driving conditions. The Carens also comes with a reversing camera, allowing for easy and safe parking manoeuvres.
