Bobath wins Wessex support for 2016

From left to right) Claire Brown, Events and Business Development Coordinator at Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, Richard Craythorne, General Manager at Wessex Garages and Gail Griffiths, Head of Fundraising & Retail at Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, celebrate their new relationship.

A CARDIFF-based charity will this year (2016) be receiving support from our Penarth Road dealership in the city after it was chosen as the company’s Charity of the Year.

Throughout 2016 staff will be fundraising for Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, which provides specialist therapy to children throughout Wales who have cerebral palsy.

Richard Craythorne, our General Manager at the dealership, said: “We feel it is extremely important to be involved with the local community and during the coming year we wanted to lend our support to a worthy cause.

“At the beginning of the year we asked people via social media to submit their nominations for a charity we could help during 2016. Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales received the most nominations from the general public and we are really excited to be working with the charity throughout 2016.

“We will lend support to Bobath in any way we can, whether it’s through promoting the work they do on social media or lending a hand at fundraisers and events and hosting our own events.

“We are looking forward to raising funds to help the charity continue its amazing work with children in Wales who have cerebral palsy.”

Staff at the dealership will be doing a variety of fundraising events for the charity during the year, such as a Bake for Bobath event and hosting a Wessex Welly Wednesday.

Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales is a registered charity, which provides specialist physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

Bobath therapists are state-registered and work together as a team to combine these disciplines to give each child the skills to explore their world, communicate their needs, maximise their potential and so improve their quality of life.

Its mission is to deliver world class Bobath therapy to as many children with cerebral palsy in Wales as possible.

Gail Griffiths, Head of Fundraising & Retail at Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, said: “We’re ecstatic that Wessex Garages has chosen Bobath to be its Charity of the Year for 2016. We couldn’t believe the amount of support we received from the general public.

“We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who nominated us and made this possible. We are looking forward to working with the team at the dealership throughout 2016 to spread awareness of what we do.”
