A BRISTOL-based charity will this year (2016) be receiving support from our new car dealership in the city after it was chosen as its Charity of the Year.
Throughout 2016 staff at our new Nissan dealership on Hayes Way at Cribbs Causeway will be fundraising for Dance Voice, which is a Dance Movement Psychotherapy charity based in Bedminster.
Simon Newson, our General Manager at the dealership, said: “We feel it is extremely important to be involved with the local community and during the coming year we wanted to lend our support to a worthy cause.
“At the end of 2015 we asked people via social media to submit their nominations for a charity we could help during 2016. Dance Voice received the most nominations from the general public and we are really excited to be working with the charity throughout 2016.
“We will lend support to Dance Voice in any way we can, whether it’s through promoting the work they do on social media or lending a hand at fundraisers and events and hosting our own events.
“We are looking forward to raising funds to help the charity continue its amazing work with people in Bristol and the surrounding area.”
Staff at the dealership will be doing a variety of fundraising events for the charity during the year, such as fancy dress days and staff challenges.
Dance Voice is one of the UK’s leading centres dedicated to community-based creative arts therapy. It is also an established training centre for dance movement psychotherapists.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy is founded on the principle that movement reflects a person’s pattern of thinking and feeling. The process uses movement and dance to facilitate emotional, physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being. Dance Movement Psychotherapy is a recognised profession, regulated by a national body.
Linsey Clark, Co-Director of Dance Voice, said: “We’re thrilled that Wessex Garages has chosen Dance Voice to be its Charity of the Year for 2016. We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who nominated us and made this possible. We can’t wait to start working with the team at the dealership on some fundraising ideas.”
