CHILDREN in Bristol attended a free festive party complete with games and food at one of our car dealerships in the city last Saturday to kick off Santa’s sleigh visits taking place this month (December, 2015).
Our dealership on Pennywell Road hosted the event on Saturday, December 5 to launch the Downend Round Table’s Santa Sleigh, which raises money for charities in the Bristol area.
Terry Thurgood, our General Manager, explained: “There were around thirty children at our festive party. They had a great time playing games and winning a selection of prizes. The youngsters also got to see Santa in his sleigh and were each given a present. We also put on a range of party food for them to feast on. As well as all this the children got to make their own Christmas decorations to take home.
“We decided to host the party as we are involved with the Downend Round Table’s Santa Sleigh visits and thought it would be a great way to kick off the charity fundraiser.
“We have given the Downend Round Table the use of a Nissan Navara 4x4. They will use this to tow Santa’s Christmas sleigh around the community and to transport Santa to meet children in December. They will also be collecting money for local charities at the same time.
“We like to support organisations in our area and we were delighted to be able to help the Downend Round Table with its community fundraising initiative. It is great for us to give something back to the local community. We hope everyone who attended our Christmas party enjoyed themselves.”
Members of the Downend Round Table will travel with Father Christmas in his sleigh around the city to areas including Downend, Frenchay and Emersons Green on selected evenings until Christmas Eve, December 24.
Steve Lansdale, Chairman of the Downend Round Table, added: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Wessex Garages for loaning us the Nissan Navara. Without their help the annual fundraiser wouldn’t have been possible.”
