SCHOOLCHILDREN from Newport are being invited by a car dealership and a charity in the city this month (November, 2016) to take part in a drawing competition with a difference.
We are teaming up with St David’s Hospice Care and asking schoolchildren to draw a different themed Christmas item depending on their year group for the chance to have their design displayed on a car this Christmas.
Martin Watts, General Manager at our site on Newport Retail Park, explained: “In partnership with St David’s Hospice Care we decided to host this festive drawing competition. Schoolchildren from all the primary schools in the Newport area are invited to take part in the competition, which opens on Tuesday, November 1. We’re delighted that Glan Usk Primary School have chosen to take part as a whole school project.
“We will be asking each year group to draw a different Christmas themed item. One winner from each year group will be picked.
“The winning drawings will be combined for a Christmas themed car design, which will be sign written on a vehicle and displayed in the showroom during the Christmas and New Year period. The winners’ first name and age will go next to their drawing on the car.
“The winners will all be invited into Wessex Garages on Newport Retail Park to see their design on the vehicle and St David’s Hospice Care will also have a gift for each winner.”
The winners will also have their design used for an e-card, which will be sent to our customers in Newport.
One overall winner will be chosen out of a hat from the year group winners and he/she will win a family pass to Bristol Zoo. The winner’s family will also be able to use a Wessex Garages’ car for the weekend they wish to visit the zoo. There will be a selection of vehicles to choose from. The prize will be arranged with dealership and the vehicle must be loaned in 2017.
The competition will be officially launched on Tuesday, November 1 and the deadline for all the entries is 4pm on Wednesday, November 30. Winners will be notified by Friday, December 9.
