FOUR members of staff at a car dealership in Bristol will this Sunday (September 18, 2016) take part in the Run Ashton Court Business Challenge in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.
Digital Sales Executive, Darryl Blackmore, Parts Advisor, Anthony Higbey and Marketing Executives, Lara Tetlow and Joel Clark at Wessex Garages will be running in the race on September 18.
Darryl, who works at the Feeder Road dealership in the city, said: “We’ve been supporting the hospice for nearly two years now and it does such great work for people in the local community. We want to do all that we can to help the charity.
“Our head office team wanted to get more involved with the branch fundraising and when I mentioned that the hospice was doing a business challenge as part of the 5k event we thought it sounded perfect. It will be great for us to work together and hopefully show some local businesses we are a force to be reckoned with too.
“Joel and I are gym fanatics so I think there will be some competition between us. Lara and Anthony are just hoping they finish the route as it will be their first 5km run. We are hoping to raise at least £500 for the hospice. It’s a great cause and we’re really proud of the relationship we have with them.”
The multi-terrain 5km or 10km run is open to all and takes place on Sunday, September 18 at Ashton Court Estate.
The run will start at 10am at the bottom of Ashton Court. From there, the circular route will take runners up through the woods and along the top part of the estate, giving people the chance to take in views over the city. Following a return down the hill, the 10km route takes in a second lap of the course.
St Peter’s Hospice cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses. As Bristol’s only adult hospice, it cares for more than 2,000 patients each year as well as supporting family members.
Edward Smith, Corporate Fundraiser at St Peter’s Hospice in Brentry, said: “We are delighted to have Wessex Garages on board. We have been receiving support from the Feeder Road branch during the past two years with the team getting involved in all sorts of activities.
“All our services are provided free of charge but this care costs around £19,000 a day. For around £14,000 of that, the hospice relies on the generosity of the local community and corporate support like this is vital.”
Wessex Garages has outlets in Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester and Newport. It specialises in new and used car sales across South Wales and the South West.
