A CHARITY in Bristol has been given a helping hand for the Bristol Half Marathon this month (September, 2015) from our dealership on Pennywell Road.

The dealership has given Penny Brohn Cancer Care a van to help it transport equipment to the event, which takes place on Sunday, September 13.

Terry Thurgood, General Manager of our dealership on Pennywell Road, explained: “Penny Brohn Cancer Care is our charity of the year and we are always happy to help the organisation in any way we can.

“The charity is an official charity partner for the Bristol Half Marathon and needed a vehicle to help it transport all its equipment to and from the event such as gazebos, massage tables, water, spare running vests and t-shirts. We are so pleased we could lend the charity our parts van for the weekend.

“We hope the event goes well for Penny Brohn Cancer Care and lots of money is raised during the event to help the charity continue its vital work.”

Penny Brohn Cancer Care based in Pill has been helping people living with cancer and their supporters since 1980. Its ‘whole-person’ approach combines physical and emotional support designed to help sufferers live well with the impact of cancer at any stage of the illness.

Emma Smith, Community & Challenge Events Manager (Acting) at Penny Brohn Cancer Care, said: “We are so grateful to Wessex Garages for lending us the van. It will make a huge difference to us on the day and means we can provide our amazing runners with the support they deserve.”

Bristol Half Marathon will start and finish in Bristol’s historic Harbourside. The sea-level route will take runners past the Harbourside, out and back along the Portway, through the Avon Gorge, and pass twice under Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, along Cumberland Road then around the old city before returning to Anchor Road.
