EMILY-JANE HAYWARD from Caldicot is celebrating this month (April) after winning the Light Vehicle regional heat of the new Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Skill Auto Competition that has been held at Central College Nottingham’s Emtec centre over the past month.
The 19-year-old took part in hands-on challenges designed to better-prepare competitors for WorldSkills and to recreate a more realistic work environment during the test. The competition challenged the competitors to complete a tough range of tasks based on rigorous IMI standards.
Chris Barrell, Aftersales Manager at our Newport Retail Park dealership, explained “Emily is our Kia Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair apprentice and she has been doing a fantastic job – it’s no surprise she won the competition and we’re very proud of her”
Anthony Harwood, skills trainer at Emtec said of Emily “Emilyis a very competent technician with bags of energy and a great willingness to learn. I am sure she will go a long way within the motor industry.”
Emily will now go to the European round of the competition in London this August – best of luck Emily, the whole Wessex Garages team are rooting for you!
