A PLAYGROUP in Malpas has this month (February, 2016) had a helping hand with its fundraising raffle from our Newport dealership.

Wessex Garages on Newport Retail Park has donated a number of prizes to Jellybeans & Dragonflies, a parent and child group based at the Malpas Community Centre.

Carly Williams, Jellybeans & Dragonflies Group Leader, said: “I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Wessex Garages for donating a great selection of prizes to our fundraising raffle. I think the ‘Win a car for a weekend’ will be very popular. The cars up for grabs include a brand new 2016 Kia Sportage, Series 4 Fiat 500 and a Dacia Duster.

“I am hosting the raffle to raise £1,000 for Jellybeans and Dragonflies, which takes place every Thursday. There are between 28 to 40 parents, grandparents and family members who bring their little ones to the group for crafts, activities, free-play and song time.

“The playgroup has vastly grown and there is a high demand for new tables and chairs as currently there is not enough for each child to sit down and eat their toast and drink their squash.

“I am looking to buy about 20 small children’s chairs and four news tables. These items would cost about £650. I would love to be able to spend the rest of the money on musical instruments for the group. These will be involved throughout song time and give the children a new experience.”

The raffle will take place on the Thursday, March 24 at the Malpas Community Centre on Pillmawr Road.

Martin Watts, our General Manager at the Newport dealership, explained: “As well as donating the ‘Win a car for the weekend’ items we are also pleased to donate 10% off of a service and a free valet prize.

“We are delighted we could help Carly with her raffle for the child group. We hope the community gets behind her and purchases a ticket so the playgroup can get all the items they need to help entertain and educate local youngsters.”
