Staff at our Used Supercentre in Bristol have this month (April, 2017) announced their fundraising total for their Charity of the Year 2016, which was The Rainbow Centre for Children.
Throughout 2016 the team raised a grand total of £1624.31 consisting of fundraising on JustGiving along with a cheque for £1618.81 for The Rainbow Centre for Children, which provides professional therapeutic support to children and their families affected by life threatening illness and bereavement.
Rachel Perry, our Service Manager at the dealership on Pennywell Road, said: “We were thrilled to lend support to The Rainbow Centre for Children and that we raised as much as we did. Over the course of the year we held a variety of fundraising events, including a ‘Rainbow Day’, Bake Off competition, Wimbledon ‘Strawberries and Cream’ sale and more. Plus all of the profits from our coffee machine go to the charity, which is a great way for our customers to get involved.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at the Rainbow Centre and we’re really proud of the money we raised.”
The Rainbow Centre for Children is based on Lilymead Avenue in Knowle and offers creative arts therapies, counselling, 1:1 and group support for adults and children and information .
Families can refer themselves directly to The Rainbow Centre or referrals can be made by professionals from other agencies.
Trish Appleton-Fox, Centre Manager at The Rainbow Centre for Children, said: “We’re over the moon that Wessex Garages chose The Rainbow Centre for Children to be its Charity of the Year for 2016.
All ourservices are provided free of charge though donations from adults receiving counselling are much appreciated. We rely entirely upon charitable donations to be able to continue our work. Wessex Garages support throughout 2016 was greatly appreciated and the money raised will go far”.
