Winners announced for our Festive drawing competition

SCHOOLCHILDREN from Newport are celebrating after the winners were picked for our drawing competition with a difference.

We teamed up with St David’s Hospice Care and asked schoolchildren to draw a different themed Christmas item depending on their year group for the chance to have their design displayed on a car.

Martin Watts, General Manager at our site on Newport Retail Park, explained: “In partnership with St David’s Hospice Care we decided to host this festive drawing competition. Schoolchildren from all the primary schools in the Newport area were invited to take part in the competition, and we were delighted that Glan Usk Primary School chose to take part as a whole school project with all of the winners being pupils there as we didn’t receive entries from any other schools.”

The winners were as following:

RI - Myleigh-Brook Ellis (age 5) – Christmas Tree

1C - Aniyah Ali (age 5) – Christmas Pudding

2M - Sienna Georgio (age 6) - Stocking

3 A/F - Olivia Hodge (age 7) – Angel

4TR - Toby Starmore (age 8) – Present

5GG - Mia Shinton (10) - Santa

6P - Megan Neale (10) – Rudolph

“The winning drawings were combined for a Christmas themed car design, which has been sign written on a Kia Sorrento and will be displayed at our showroom on Newport Retail Park during the Christmas and New Year period.”

“We went to meet the winners at Glan Usk Primary School so they could see their design on the vehicle and St David’s Hospice Care kindly provided gifts for each winner, as you can see they were delighted!”

One overall winner was also chosen out of a hat, Sienna Georgio from year 2 and she won a family pass to Bristol Zoo. Her family will also be able to use a Wessex Garages’ car for the weekend they wish to visit the zoo.
