The Nissan ARIYA strikes gold again at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards

The all-electric Nissan ARIYA – available to inspect and test-drive at your local Nissan Wessex Garages – has picked up a prestigious trophy at the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.

The 87kWh Evolve e-4ORCE version of the car achieved success in one of the awards’ most important categories – the ability to tow a caravan weighing between 1500kg and 1600kg.

It’s the second time in three years that ARIYA has triumphed at the awards. Nissan’s stylish coupe crossover was named ‘Electric Towcar of the Year’ in the 2024 awards – its first success in a towcar competition.

Announcing the roll call of winners for 2026, the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: ‘‘A previous award winner, the Nissan ARIYA has struck gold once again!

‘‘Its high stability levels placed it above the pack with judges loving how it kept its caravan in check at both high speeds and during a variety of lower speed manoeuvres. High marks were also given for the smooth power delivery from the twin electric motors, along with sharp steering, a supple ride, and a practical, quality interior.’’

The Nissan ARIYA’s success in the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards rounds off a busy summer period for the former Auto Express Car of the Year.

Just last month, it was revealed that most ARIYA iterations will qualify for the Government’s new Electric Car Grant at the £1,500 level, bringing down purchase prices and monthly repayments to make the car more affordable than ever.

Nissan also announced a new entry point to the range – ARIYA Shiro, which starts at a very competitive OTR price of £33,500, therefore also qualifying for the new Government grant.

Gareth Howells Nissan Brand Director at Wessex Garages said: ‘‘We’re proud and delighted that the Nissan ARIYA has been making headlines for all the right reasons in recent weeks.

‘‘Securing eligibility for the Government’s £1,500 Electric Vehicle Grant makes ARIYA more accessible than ever. The car now delivers greater value without compromising on the innovation, design, and performance our customers expect, and reflects Nissan’s approach of removing barriers to EV ownership and empowering more drivers to make the switch to zero-emission driving.

“In addition, we couldn’t be more thrilled that the car has triumphed once again at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards. Nissan’s future is electric and recognising the role electric vehicles play in all forms of motoring is vitally important.”
