WESSEX GARAGES NISSAN DEALERSHIP MANAGER IN RUNNING FOR A PRESTIGIOUS MOTOR TRADE AWARD.

Leigh Gammon, Nissan Brand Quality Manager at Wessex Garages Nissan Newport, in South Wales, has reached the final five in the ‘Customer Service Champion’ category at the forthcoming AM Awards.

The awards are organised by the leading automotive industry magazine Automotive Management and set the benchmark for achievement across the motor retail sector. From individuals driving change to high-performing teams and standout businesses, they recognise outstanding contributions across the motor trade.

In short, they honour the vision, dedication and innovation that power the UK’s motor trade and making it to the final five in any given category is definitely something to celebrate!

Leigh has enjoyed a long and busy career stretching back 30 years – and for the past two decades, he has worked with Nissan at Wessex Garages and other businesses in South Wales and Herefordshire. In that time, he has held the roles of service advisor, senior service advisor, service manager and aftersales manager.

For the past four years, he has been Nissan Brand Quality Manager in Newport.

During his career, Leigh has won a number of individual Nissan Dealer Ambassador Awards and has also enjoyed success with his team.

Most notably, Wessex Garages Nissan Newport was named Nissan Aftersales Dealership of the Year for 2025.

The Wessex team pride themselves on strong customer service. Over the past year, more than 1,300 people have been surveyed about their experiences at the dealership, awarding the team an impressive average score of 4.85 out of five.

Leigh said: ‘‘Nothing can be achieved in this industry without a great team alongside you and I am fortunate to work for a company with strong leadership and a well-established ethos of customer service. I have certainly enjoyed my career to date – we are in exciting times for the motor trade and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!’’

Interests and hobbies

Leigh is a self-confessed workaholic, but when he is not at the dealership in Seven Stiles Avenue, he enjoys spending time with his children and encourages them with their personal interests and hobbies. He enjoys playing computer games and is a keen Liverpool football fan.

Asked to identify his favourite Nissan model, Leigh said: ‘‘I have seen the brand grow in terms of product range and technology over time, but the car I class as one of my favourites – and one which I always felt was under-rated – was the Nissan Pulsar. A close second would be the K12 Micra from the early 2000s – so I am showing my age!’’

The winners of the AM Awards will be announced on Thursday May 14th at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London
