The latest-generation Mazda MX-5 is a state-of-the-art, two-seater roadster coupé designed for the ultimate driving experience – complete with powerful engines and cutting-edge technology to thrill even the most discerning of drivers.
The restyled, energetic silhouette is impossible to ignore – yet it’s not solely about striking good looks. It’s also about superior aerodynamics to maximize performance. Incorporated into the new Mazda MX-5 is the Japanese marque’s new KODO: Soul of Motion design language, which appeals to all the senses at once. The combination of sleek and sculpted lines flow seamlessly into the convertible hard-top – while bold alloy wheels and a dual exhaust are guaranteed to attract attention.
Five trims are now available in the new Mazda MX-5: SE, SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav. Entry-level SE comes with convenient USB and AUX-in for simple connectivity with your devices, plus a four-speaker stereo for premium sound quality. As for high-spec SE-L Nav and Sport Nav, they offer integrated satellite navigation for straightforward route-planning as standard. Meanwhile, Sport benefits from firm sport suspension and Bilstein dampeners for a super-focused handling set-up.
The interior provides premium elegance in the form of soft contours that reflect the exterior design. You’ll notice outstanding craftsmanship throughout – from the sporty seats to the intelligent controls in the ergonomic cockpit. The stylish leather steering wheel is a pleasure to use, complete with beautiful red stitching – while satin chrome flashes give the setting a contemporary finish. The SE-L trim and up, gain the MZD-connect 7” touch-screen, which is highly intuitive and offers easy access to the car’s hi-tech infotainment system.
This is the first Mazda MX-5 to incorporate the marque’s cutting-edge SKYACTIV Technology – making the engine line-up more efficient than ever, yet there’s no compromise on performance. The entry-level SKYACTIV-G 1.5-litre petrol powertrain can hit 62mph in approximately eight seconds, while returning 44.8mpg and CO2 emissions of 143g/km. The more dynamic 2.0-litre version is offered in all but the SE model, and it really packs a punch. Opt for the Sport models to gain sports suspension to enhance your ride.
This new model may be lighter than the outgoing one yet it’s actually more robust, again thanks to SKYACTIV Technology. That means that all occupants benefit from optimum protection. In addition, dynamic stability control as standard keeps you steady in all kinds of difficult conditions – and Mazda’s upgraded i-ACTIVSENSE safety systems (including a combination of radar and sensors) lets you know if there’s potential danger ahead. With the new Mazda MX-5, you’re prepared for anything.
